Our rental was so easy. Easy pick up easy drop off. The rental was as described and very nice. Great communication! We even had an emergency while using the rental and we were able to get a prompt solution with ease and understanding! I would definitely use them again!! Highly recommend!

Honestly, I would leave ZERO star in this review if I could.
My husband and I rented a 2019 Chevy Malibu from this company through Turo. The car was average, all things considered. Personally, I have a 2020 Malibu with just as many miles as this Malibu had, but you can tell the Malibu from HM Vacations has not been kept up. The engine sounds incredibly rough when accelerating as if it had not been serviced in quite some time. The dash kept showing that service was needed each time we started the vehicle. And the wiper blades were completely torn and basically useless, which was fine considering it didn’t rain the entire time really.
BUT, where the issue comes in is the owner are straight up RUDE humans. I accidentally left a Stanley Cup - with carrying case - in the back seat out of haste to get to the airport. HM Vacations was notified immediately about the issue so we could secure return of the cup. HM Vacations did not respond for days, and only responded after the “rating/review window” with Turo closed. When they did responde, they said it would be $80 MINIMUM plus shipping costs for the return of the cup. They said the $80 was for “their time” to return the up, even though there is a USPS location only 2 miles from their location. When we tried to dispute this cost, as the $80 “inconvenience” fee was unreasonable, we were told to pay the fee OR the cup would be completely destroyed. I was also EXPLICITLY TOLD not to argue with them and told not to question them when their hours of operation listed on Google (10a to 5p) were not what they had told me when they said they were only open from 12p to 5p.
Then, THEY STOPPED COMMUNICATING WITH US ENTIRELY. Told us to go through Turo - who told us to go through HM Vacations directly. Turo said HM Vacations assured them (Turo) they would work with me and my husband regarding the cup. TO DATE, WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM. And the cup STILL has not been returned. Which is in violation of California law regarding found property. I
Yes, an error was made on my part by forgetting my cup. A simple, human, mistake. Which was met with absolute hostility, rudeness, and every possible way you’re not sup[osed to treat customers in a customer service based industry. I can honestly say I have never had a more unacceptable, abrasive, and RUDE customer service experience when making a simple mistake that we tried to rectify immediately upon noticing the mistake.
If you can, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

When I complained, they lied and now claim fake damage to charge me more. This is completely false and unacceptable. I reported this immediately and request that no extra charges be applied. I refuse to pay for a dishonest switch and false accusations.

Absolute extortion artists. First we get their car and the car was in awful condition. The windshield wipers didn’t work and the engine sounded like it was about to explode. Fine, we can forgive that because we rarely had to drive so we were fine despite the car being ready to die.
The real problem is the attitude and personalities of the staff. We used them through Turo. My wife left an expensive cup in the car. They didn’t really respond much for almost 2 weeks before finally calling us. When they did? They tried to extort us for $100 if we wanted our property returned. Then when we questioned where that was even a policy they said it’s not and either we pay up or they’re throwing our stuff away.
To make matters worse they waited so long we couldn’t even give them a proper review in Turo because the review period closed.
Between the garbage condition car and the objectively awful people running this place I would stay FAR away.
We’ve appealed to Turo and maybe they’ll help set the. Straight or remove them from the platform but even so, everybody should know what jokers this company is.
